Comparing Multi-Digit Numbers (4.NBT.2) - We show students how to compare values by focusing on place value. The Tens, Hundred, and Thousands Place (4.NBT.1) - The three critical place values.Prime and Composite Numbers (4.OA) - Students learn how to identify and classify numbers.Math Pattern (4.OA.C.5) - We get rid of the numbers and have students sort through a visually pattern. ![]() Pre-Algebraic Number Sequences and Patterns (4.OA.C.5) - This is a bit more advanced.Understanding Numeric Patterns (4.OA.C.5) - We go over how to identify key elements of a math pattern.Counting Patterns (4.OA.C.5) - This is a nice way to break into code cracking.Math Rules and Patterns (4.OA.5) - Students will break down and determine patterns and sequences that they are presented with.Triple Digits Divided By Single Digits (4.OA.B.4) - We stay away from remainders in this section.Factor Pairs to 100 (4.OA.4) - We also learn to classify numbers as prime and composite in this set.Frontend Estimation Word Problems (4.OA.A.3) - We show you how to quickly ballpark the answers to word problems.Pre-Algebra Word Problems (4.OA.A.3) - This requires you to reword problems to help make sense of what is being asked of you.Mixed Basic Operations Word Problems (4.OA.A.3) - Remember PEMDAS when you are approaching these problems.Simple Algebra Word Problems (4.OA.A.3) - The goal here is to write each problem in an equation form.Multi-Step Word Problems (4.OA.3) - This is the first level of complexity that students will see in word based problems.Multiplication Word Problems (4.OA.2) - The focus is on story based problems that include some form of multiplication to complete.Multiply or Divide Word Problems (4.OA.2) - This section is covered with word problems that will either need to share or expand. The Distributive Property of Multiplication (4.OA.1) - This is the most often used property of math. The Properties of Multiplication (4.OA.1) - Students learn the various properties and apply them to equations and operations. To help reinforce the classroom materials we have 4th Grade Math Posters too. Below you will find all the key topics for the 4th grade level in the form of worksheets and lessons. The standards also cite a good bit of analyzing and classifying basic geometric shapes, but we seem to find less emphasis on geometry in all the testing that we see on the area. This then transitions into forming improper fractions and mixed numbers. Students are required to understand basic operations and how to manipulate numerators and denominators through those operations. The 4th grade curriculum is heavy on fractions. They carry these skills into word problems we some solid expectations of being able to find unknown values. With division we are expecting them to learn about remainders and what they mean. We expect that students will understand how to find factors and multiples by the conclusion of the school year. When it comes to addition and subtraction students are expected to be swift and precise when dealing with up to six-digit values. 4th grade math focuses on understanding your core math operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing).
